Prep or Pre-Kindy is an alternative to preschool or day care where children learn through fun, and gain basic principles to prepare them for their first year of school. Many consider it a great transition to school, and most importantly it’s a lot of fun. Children are exposed to literacy, phonics, numbers and life skills, all important skills for life learning. All in line with the requirements set out by the NSW Children’s Services Regulations and the National Accreditation Council. Information regarding the requirement of these agencies can be found at: www.community.nsw.gov.au and www.ncac.gov.au. Who is it for?
Prep is for children who turn four by March 31 the year they attend. Preschool has been designed for children who are 3 years of age and toilet trained. We have 19 places each day. Designed for Children Purpose built classrooms and playgrounds provide a child safe environment for learning. We believe that children learn in an environment that is nurturing and stimulating. Our teachers take the time to prepare an environment for your children that is based around their interests. Learning Centres include science areas, numeracy, art and craft, dramatic play, literacy, construction and manipulative play. We ensure that our worship time is Christ focused and at an appropriate level for the early years.

Flexible attendance You are able to choose the number of days your child attends Prep or Preschool. We do have a 2 day per week minimum for children attending Prep. We believe that this assists 4 year olds prepare themselves for the 5 days a week of school. Ability based performance The structure of Prep allows the Early Childhood Teacher to meet the individual needs of your child. Teachers are trained to accelerate children who show particular interest in reading, numeracy and potential giftedness. Staff are also trained to assist in the early detection of children displaying learning difficulties. English as a second language
All of our programs are excellent for children who are not yet familiar with the English language. Children quickly learn English in a fun environment, before the demands of school begin. We do believe very strongly the importance of the home language and embrace the differences of language and literacy that families bring to our ELC.
